all things break – dots

all things break - dots

Selected. made its name as a channel first and a label second, and you can hear the curator in what it signs. Nothing shouts. The grooves sit low and the feeling arrives sideways instead of head on.

all things break has been feeding that lane singles for the past year, and dots is the first EP under the name. Two tracks, six minutes, the title cut plus going blind.

dots moves at 127 in a minor key and never tries to outrun itself. The kick keeps time and nothing more. What carries it is the vocal, close and a little worn, sitting inside the mix rather than on top of it, with the low end breathing underneath. I like that it quits at three and a half. Records this patient usually pad. This one just ends.

The project has been circling the same feeling since blackout blackout and gravity, and dots is where all things break stops circling.

Restraint like this leaves nowhere to hide a weak idea. all things break did not bring one.
