There is a point where Rhythm pulls the floor out from under you. The kick drops away, tension pools in the empty bars it leaves behind, and then it lands back twice as heavy as before. I have lost count of how many times I have dragged the playhead back to that turn.
Benson and Adapter built this one for the dark middle of a set, the hour when the room stops filming and just moves. The groove is relentless and a little hypnotic, a driving peak-time pulse that simply assumes your attention. There is not much melody to hide behind here, which is the point. The track earns its weight from restraint and repetition, and it holds.
It landed on IN / ROTATION, and Benson is no stranger to these pages, going back to the night he and Tommy Trash showed up with Spilt Milk. Rhythm is a harder, later-night cousin of that same instinct, the one that refuses to let a floor sit still.
What stays with me is how patient it is. Most peak-time records rush to the payoff. This one lets the pressure build until the drop feels less like a surprise and more like something you had been waiting for the whole time.
