The fine print got me first. Don Diablo, the guy whose Hexagon imprint was future house’s home address for a decade, just dropped a single whose copyright line reads Isekai/broke instead, and it is called Gangsta Lean.
Here is what the label copy tells you: out July 22, a single version barely past two minutes, and an Extended Mix premiered through Future House Music, the YouTube channel that grew up on the sound Don helped define. A short radio cut with a DJ length twin says this one is built for the middle of a DJ set, not a playlist shuffle. My first proper listen is booked for the tail end of a Friday night, the hour a room stops sprinting and starts swaggering, because the title is a posture and nobody gangsta leans in a hurry.
He has earned that kind of anticipation around here. Don has been in the bythewavs archive since Cutting Shapes turned a dance move into a future house calling card, with stops like Children of a Miracle along the way. Gangsta Lean makes it two titles pulled straight off the dancefloor, and I like the pattern.
Gangsta Lean is out now, everywhere since July 22, single and Extended Mix both. Hit play below, sink a shoulder, and lean back.
