Sub first, everything else negotiable. SLICK takes Eliminate’s “Open Your Eyes” and rebuilds it around the low end, and the thing knocks harder than most tracks you can download for nothing.
The original had bounce. This one has a grudge. SLICK keeps enough of the vocal to remind you where you are, then buries it under a bass that growls instead of screams, all texture and no shine. Halfway in is where I lost it. That drop clears a rail. It turns a polite front row into a wall of bass face.
SLICK is a Toronto producer whose whole reputation runs on edits and flips, and it shows in how cleanly this one is cut. He knew which bar of the original was worth keeping and binned the rest. Eliminate put “Open Your Eyes” out through NIGHTMODE, and if you have not kept up with what Eliminate has been doing, he swings between dubstep and drum and bass without much warning, so a flip this heavy is no betrayal of the source.
Free flips usually sound free. This one does not. It is mixed like something SLICK expected to hear through a real rig, not a throwaway he uploaded and forgot about.
