Ferreck Dawn – Lost At The End

Ferreck Dawn - Lost At The End

The lift on this one is all in the vocal, not the low end. Ferreck Dawn is back on Toolroom, and by every account he floats this one where a lot of house just shoves. Warm, patient, built to breathe. It is a single called ‘Lost At The End,’ and it is exactly the kind of house I keep hoping he goes back to.

By the write-ups it is built the way his best ones are: a rolling, heavyweight bassline under a stripped-back groove, with Darla Jade’s vocal looped in warm and hypnotic on top. That is a sunrise-set record if I have ever read the shape of one. I already know how it plays, the last hour of the night, the smaller stage, the room still moving well past when it should have stopped.

Dawn has been one of house music’s steady hands for a decade, and this is him back in the Toolroom lane he knows, right after ‘Say What You Mean’ landed on Defected. If you liked his rework with Franky Rizardo and Torica on ‘Baby Slow Down’, this scratches the same itch, and the rest of his run is on the hub.

Put it on when the night is winding down and let it carry the last set. Out now on Toolroom, go find it.
