Iglesias works the functional end of tech house, the stuff built for a dark room and a long set rather than a festival singalong. IN / ROTATION is the right home for that. ‘Fixation’ is the new one, and it gets moving fast, with no long intro to sit through.
The groove locks in early and stays put. A low, elastic bassline carries the whole track, a clipped vocal loops over the top, and there is almost nothing else in the mix. Around the halfway mark the filter opens and everything snaps tighter, and that flip is the spot I keep rewinding. Iglesias never reaches for a big drop. The track keeps its pace, patient, until you notice you have been moving for three minutes straight.
This is a DJ’s record, the kind you drop at 1am once the floor already trusts you. IN / ROTATION has stacked plenty of tracks in this pocket, and ‘Fixation’ sits comfortably next to them. If Iglesias is a new name to you, the Iglesias hub is a fair place to start.
None of this is built to grab you on the first pass. It is built for the midpoint, when that filter opens and the whole room follows it there.
