Some collaborations you have to squint at. Odd Mob with Walker & Royce is not one of them, and I am mildly annoyed nobody made this happen sooner.
Can’t Say Nah came out June 26 on Insomniac Records with Benni Ola on the vocal, and UKF filed it under tech house, which is the right neighbourhood for everyone involved. Odd Mob has been working the Australian end of that sound for years and has the bounce to show for it. Walker & Royce come at the same tempo with a much drier sense of humour. A guest vocalist is the obvious place for those two instincts to meet in the middle.
This is one for the late slot, the hour where the room has thinned out to the people who actually came to dance rather than to be seen.
Odd Mob has a real run through here, Gassed Up and its VIP among them, and his page holds the rest. Walker & Royce’s page is thinner, which says more about our coverage than it does about them. Out now on Insomniac Records. Go dance to it.
