The swing is the whole thing here. Player Dave builds ‘Paradise’ on that tripping UK garage shuffle, a 2-step that refuses to sit square on the grid, and I will always stop for a producer who rides the wonk instead of smoothing it out. His HARD Recs debut, two tracks deep.
‘Paradise’ pulls UKG and IDM into one room. Shuffling drums and textured percussion, granular pads and warm synths smeared underneath, airy arpeggios threading through, processed vocal hooks floating on top half-remembered. Less a club weapon, more garage you play with the lights low. Then ‘s8cred’ turns rowdy, pushing deeper into UKG, breakbeats knocking against distorted, wiggly frequencies. Same shuffle, more teeth, the one I keep circling.
Player Dave has spent about a decade in electronic music, and that introspective streak is why this garage record still feels like something. Save it for the after-hours wind-down, lights low and the room half-empty. If this is your lane, dig the house and deep house shelves and keep the Player Dave page close.
‘Paradise’ is out now on HARD Recs, the Insomniac label. Put it on and let the shuffle carry it.
