You keep waiting for the vocal to open up into a full chorus, and SYREETA never lets it. Every time ‘This Song’ looks ready to hand over the hook, she chops it back to a syllable and lets the groove take the weight. The tease is the whole point.
Underneath it runs on pure jackin house, the bassline bumping in tight little hops instead of a straight walk, filtered stabs snapping on the offbeat. Around the halfway mark the low end cuts out for a bar, the vocal loops up on its own, and when the bump lands again I was already moving. It bounces. Nothing here is trying to be huge, which is why it works on a floor that has not filled up yet.
It arrives through IN / ROTATION, and since this is the first SYREETA cut in our corner of the archive, I came in cold and ended up playing it three times straight.
The best jackin house treats the chorus like something you have to earn, and this one never quite gives it up. That is what keeps pulling me back.
