Tita Lau, James Hurr – Sweat

Tita Lau, James Hurr - Sweat

Some grooves talk to your head. This one goes straight to the hips and pulls. Tita Lau and James Hurr made ‘Sweat’ to move a body before your brain gets a vote, and that pull is the whole point.

On paper it is a 129 BPM Toolroom tech house cut, groove-driven with a punchy low end and plenty of attitude. What makes it more than a DJ tool is Tita. She rides right on top of that low end with a confident, hook-first vocal. I keep wanting to hear it loud, on a real system, in a packed room at 1am where the walls are already sweating.

This is Tita Lau‘s first record for Toolroom, and that debut alone was enough to pull me in. She made her name as a vocalist, lending hooks to cuts like Patrick Topping’s ‘Turbo Time’, and here she is out front. James Hurr is the steady hand on the boards, the same producer who turned Jules Liesl’s ‘Cherry’ into his own remix alongside Karsten Sollors.

‘Sweat’ is out now on Toolroom. Turn it up, find a real floor, and let it earn its title.
