YAANO x Gaszia – MY HEART

YAANO x Gaszia - MY HEART

A topline vocalist gets top billing and you settle in for three minutes of swaying with a lighter up. Then you clock the two names in front of hers. YAANO and Gaszia are bass producers, MY HEART landed on UKF, and the vocal here is the lure, not the destination.

Here is my read. MADI sings a hook that could carry a straight pop record, all ache and open vowels, and the two producers build the floor to swallow it whole. That push and pull is the whole reason a vocal bass cut exists, something soft to grab before the low end turns mean. I want it in the headphones on the walk up to a stage, when you can feel the sub through the ground before you see it, for the moment the singing stops running the song.

MADI is the connective tissue. She has spent years handing toplines to bass and future-bass producers, the same aching delivery she brought to her hook on Manila Killa’s Desire, and she does the same job for YAANO and Gaszia. Give her a beat with space and she fills it.

It is up on UKF with MADI on the hook and the two producers handling everything under her. The trick that makes one of these land is patience, letting the pretty part breathe long enough that you forget what YAANO and Gaszia do for a living, so the turn actually costs you something. On paper it is a cheap setup. It keeps working anyway.

About Jackson Settles

Jackson lives in the low end: trap, dubstep, drum and bass, riddim, anything that hits in the chest. He covers the drops other writers are scared of, and he means it when he says a track goes hard. Loud is a compliment.
