3LAU, born Justin Blau, has always been an interesting artist in my opinion. In his latest move to change the music scene, he created a new record label. This new label, named BLUME, is focused on being a nonprofit record label. The goal is to raise $100,000 for the organization Pencils of Promise. This non profit, which raises funds for school construction in developing worlds, is the recipient of almost $100,000 already from 3LAU since 2013.
All the income gathered from royalties and streaming will go towards Pencils of Promise through this fundraising campaign website.
The label is being launched on April 8th. The first single being released is by 3LAU himself and is entitled “Is It Love?” Here is a Vine he posted promoting the song:

3LAU has clearly been donating to this charity for some time. He decided to take this next step after visiting a school in Justino Rafio, Guatemala that he wanted to try to do even more. He told Billboard,
”My passion for education lies in its capacity to re-shape the root causes of virtually every single global misfortune, from poverty and disease to corruption and war,”… “Access to education is a stimulating force for change and a core solution, not just a band-aid for symptomatic issues.”
After education being such a key focus, 3LAU hopes to direct funds from BLUME’s profit to even more education-based causes. Social media will be the tool in which the listeners of BLUME music to contribute their ideas and suggestions.
