Ascension – Someone Like You (Cameron Mo 2015 Mix)

January 24, 2015 by Nick Pesavento

Ascension- Cameron Mo

Say hello to Cameron Mo, a DJ from the UK who has recently finished a remix for the classic “Someone Like You” by Ascension. You can currently listen to it on his Soundcloud, but I’ll give you a preview of what you can expect.

The song begins with a blend of trance and progressive house that immediately gets you moving in your seat. While I am attached to my computer via headphones, I am still able to get moving without pulling everything over. The amazing vocals from the original are incorporated beautifully as Cameron slices in a background piece that complicates the overall sound, but leaves you feeling satisfied. The original song has a much more uplifting feel, and the remix Cameron has given us is a little darker, though I actually prefer it.

The vocals that Cameron uses throughout his remix are actually only part of the original song. For some this might be a problem, but he chooses the portions that mix well with his synth melodies to bring it to the listener in a fuller sense. The original song is mostly trance and while I can certainly appreciate it, the crossing of genre barriers gives this remix an additional dimension that causes those listening to not only move to the music, but get lost in its tranquil sound.

I cannot wait to see what else Cameron has on his plate as this remix of a classic is beautifully done. Be on the look out for the track on his Soundcloud. Thanks for the exclusive preview of the mix!
