Thursday’s here again and this time we’re throwing back to a Hard Trance classic, Cosmic Gate’s Exploration of Space. Released in 2001, it was their first success outside of their home country Germany, where it hit number 29 on the UK charts after number 12 after it reached on the German charts. It’s Trance in every way that you look at it – it’s long, has an uplifting chord progression and a hard beat. The secret to its success, however, wasn’t because it sits so well in the genre – it sounded like other previously popular songs without copying them. The opening synth sounds like that in Alice Deejay’s Better Off Alone, while the lead synth progression in the drop reminds you of Darude – Sandstorm (one of the most famous Trance songs of all time, and currently the most popular Trance song out there). These influences, along with Cosmic Gate’s Hard Trance style, all blend together to make a song that is very danceable but is also uplifting at the same time, and these positive effects end up leaving you happy by the end of the song. Feel these vibes and have a listen to this classic!
