The wait is finally over for Overwerk’s fourth EP, and even though it’s been two years in the making it’s been more than worth it. His production skills have gone up a level, with orchestral and techno elements weaved into his complextro style. There’s a less of a focus on the drops and more on the instrumentation in between, which is a fresh change from the current dance music scene. The fuzzy yet jarring bass and synths are matched by the intricateness of every other part of his compositions, which are getting even more epic as time goes on. The switches between BPMs in the songs are also well considered and expertly handled, as is the style of the EP. It’s not as dance oriented as most people will be used to, but listening to it purely from a music perspective (instead of dance) makes it a fantastic composition that shouldn’t be missed out on.
