After a run of banging singles, Birmingham producer maestro Stonebank is back with his debut EP: Monument. It’s quite diverse, featuring Drum and Bass, Bass House, Electro House and Glitch Hop across its five songs, the first two genres of which he’s never released before. As is the case with every song that he makes, this EP is made to be danced to with impeccable production quality and growling bass across the songs. That is the key difference with this EP compared to his previous releases – the songs don’t rely on melodies or hooks as much, as they follow the current trend and feature hard and deep bass instead.
The two Glitch Hop tunes feature long-time collaborators EMEL and Concept, both contributing well considered vocals that are the finishing touch to both songs and even the EP. Concept especially unleashes pure venom at the start of Chokehold, but that only just keeps up with the insane bass that Stonebank drops on your head after a seemingly innocent build up.
If there’s one thing that this EP tells you about Stonebank, it’s that he knows exactly what he wants to do with his productions, he knows how to do it and pulls it off with aplomb. For that he’s underrated, so make sure you show him some love with this monument to his career (and bangers) and give it a listen and download!
