A little background for those who don’t know; The Top 40 artist, Kesha (Formally known as Ke$ha), has been through unimaginable trauma since around 2012 and the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting when ‘Die Young’ was pulled off the air. Her twitter was allegedly sprinkled with tweets that hinted towards abuse and violence directed towards her. In October of 2014 Kesha attempted to get her contract with Dr. Luke voided so she could leave Sony Music and find a different producer. The lawsuit claimed that Dr. Luke, “sexually, physically, verbally, and emotionally abused” Kesha. The New York Supreme Court Judge Shirley Kornreich denied an injunction allowing Kesha to work with other labels and producers. This is because the court says, “There has been no showing of irreparable harm. [Kesha]’s being given opportunity to record.” On her side have been a list of artists. Taylor Swift donated $250,000 to support the financial needs of Kesha. Along with that, on social media artists have been providing support for Kesha in the form of posts that send support in good vibes. What the court case between Kesha and Dr. Luke is presenting is an issue that many are afraid to talk about. Why? Because the issue of abuse is still so often tabooed and void of blame. That is why so many artists, especially female artists, are speaking out. This was an issue that needed to be brought to light and they advocated for Kesha the best way they could in today’s society. As of the beginning of this week, the court has stated that Kesha is “free” to record music with other individuals. And here it gets interesting. Two producers have been expressing interest in helping Kesha record this new music. One is well know, our very own Zedd. Another, the producer for bands like the Bleachers, Taylor Swift and fun. These two producers are giving their support the best way they can in this situation. It is difficult for artists to step into legal issues like this because they too have contracts. However, when one can do something it is clear that they are going to. Below you can see some of the support for Kesha as fans continue to post #FreeKesha and artists continue to tweet. Abuse of any kind must be stopped. If someone is speaking out that they are an abusive situation, there must be support and kindness met to help them in what often turns out to be an ugly legal battle.

There's a quote, I believe from John Fogerty: "The music industry is so corrupt it makes Hollywood look like a charity organization." #Kesha
