It was back to The Bluebird Theatre for the Pegboard Nerds. I would find out later that it was their 7th time in Colorado, and I have now seen them for 3 of those performances, all at different venues! My first impression of how the night was going to go, happened during Grabbitz’ set as I looked around and saw that the entire crowd was jumping and genuinely into the music. It didn’t feel like a show where people went because they wanted everyone else to notice them. Every person in the crowd had this magnificent look of joy on their face and it spread like wildfire. Grabbitz has been an artist to keep an eye on for some time as his music is some of the best to dance and enjoy your night with. I had a hard time not smiling and there were definitely points where I almost forgot I had a camera in my hand that I needed to be careful with. Before long Pegboard Nerds were being ushered on stage by Grabbitz himself and as the first picture shows, the three of them looked like they had this planned from the beginning. It was also a treat to see Grabbitz represent the Super Bowl Champs, and he even tossed his Manning jersey into the crowd!
Pegboard Nerds have consistently played great sets, each time I’ve had the chance to see them. From the intimacy of The Bluebird, to the energetic crowd at Beta, to the awe-inspiring views from the stage at Red Rocks, the Pegboard Nerds know what they are doing. From the beginning of the set to the final encore, the duo had the audience in the palm of their hand. The entire crowd was jumping and dancing all in unison. The floor was shaking and it made taking pictures near impossible.
That was the best part though (maybe a tad frustrating for the photographer in me), with the music ranging from bass-house to hardstyle, and dubstep to Melbourne, no genre or song wouldn’t have fit. I was throughly impressed that those genres smoothly transitioned without the crowd dying down in the slightest. A true testament to the skill of Pegboard Nerds as well.
As you can see in the gallery of pictures below, the Pegboard Nerds fans were out in force as I saw more than a few shirts and the heart being shown around the crowd constantly. The intimate nature of The Bluebird gave every fan the chance to see both Grabbitz and Pegboard Nerds up close and personal, and playing two incredible sets. It’s certainly one of the most energetic and just plain fun concerts I’ve been to in a while. If you haven’t seen either Grabbitz or Pegboard Nerds, you absolutely need to get to one because it is a pure, unadulterated, good time.
