For an electronic artist it’s always hard to work out how you’ll follow up a full length album, and many established artists have gone about it in very different ways. Xilent has opted to go back to business as usual, making a 3-track EP that builds on the recent Dubstep revival. Reborn is screechy, Your System’s synths fall over themselves like in Hybrid Trap and Next Time is an uplifting Melodic Dubstep tune that has a few wubs layered through it as well. Even though the songs all have similar percussion in the build ups and snares, they also have distinct personalities that all scream Xilent. Future album producers should take a leaf out of Xilent’s book when wondering how to follow up their albums – this EP is seriously good.
