I had the awesome opportunity to sit down with Pusher after his opening set at Dead Rocks this past week. Standing at the bottom just off the stage, I conducted an “interview” (more of a conversation really). We spoke extensively about the remix EP of “Clear” that was just released and how each of the four remixes that are included all bring something completely different to the original. “Clear” carries a pop-dance style that is absolutely infectious whenever you hear it, and with each of the remixes, the artists still pay homage to that atmosphere, though no remix goes about it in the same way.
While we talked, neither of us could help but look up in awe as the rows of Red Rocks slowly began to fill. Pusher went on right as doors opened at 6pm, and within 20 minutes the first dozen rows were completely filled with fans finding their groove to everything Pusher was playing. I spoke with him about this specifically, asking what his approach was to his first set at Red Rocks was. He mentioned that with only 30 minutes, he had decided to show fans what he was about, playing some of his most iconic tracks and giving fans a few sneak peeks at his new album (due out in August!). It was inspiring to see how much this set meant to Pusher as it was his first time in Colorado. Watching and photographing his set, you could tell that playing in front of the crowd at Red Rocks was something he would never forget. I asked him about the venue itself and he mentioned that it was easily up there with seeing the Great Wall of China, it’s not a place you would ever forget.
Throughout our conversation we talked about Red Rocks, the remixes, him running around Red Rocks during soundcheck, his new album, and a few other awesome surprises in store for all of us fans. In the meantime, check out the review of Dead Rocks where I talk a little about his opening set, and listen to the remix EP that was just released!
