5 Acts We’re Looking Forward to See at Breakaway Music Festival

On August 26th and 27th, some of the top EDM producers, Rap, and Hip-hop artists will make their way to Columbus, Ohio to perform in front of tens of thousands. As Breakaway Fest makes it first return since 2013, and finds itself in its new home of the Ohio Exposition Center in Columbus, here are the acts you will not want to miss. The previous edition of the festival was at Columbus Crew Stadium in 2013 with Bassnectar, Empire of The Sun, Kendrick Lamar, Twenty One Pilots, Porter Robinson, and more.

1. Allison Wonderland:

With Allison Wonderland currently killing the game and continuing to rise swiftly through the industry, you DO NOT want to miss her set. With her first year on the American EDM scene in 2015, she’s already played at such high profile festivals such as Electric Daisy Carnival: Las Vegas, Lollapalooza, and Coachella. With her eclectic musical background consisting of both information and talent, she’s sure to make your body move in a whole new way. Anything is possible during her set, from moving and grooving the night away one second, to raging the hardest you ever have the next. Be sure to catch her from 8:50-9:50 at the Prime Stage on Friday.

2. RL Grime

After just playing EDC and headlining at Red Rocks Amphitheater, RL Grime’s perfect mixture of hip-hop, grime, trap, and heavy bass drops are sure to make your time at Breakaway one of the best ever. This is one act that’s completely different than most. Instead of Rl Grime feeding off of the crowd’s energy, the crowd feeds off of him and his high energy, ecstatic sets. Catch him 10-11pm on the mainstage Saturday.

3. Lancelott

With having just recently dropped his first album, “Rite of Passage” and having a successful album release party, Lancelott is here to stay. He feeds off of the crowd’s energy unlike any other, and his name is “Lancelott” because he truly does “dance a lot”. This man has won over the hearts of the Appalachian EDM community by capturing the true essence of Appalachia in his tracks while still throwing down just as hard as the best in the game.  Catch him at the Silent Disco from 5-6:15 on Saturday.

4. Shy Guy Says

Not many people have heard of this guy, but everyone should. He drops absolute filth every set and will force you to get down and dirty. For him, it’s not about the fame or money. It’s all about the experience he can provide for you while playing music that he loves. He performs in a funky mask that will add a twist to his performance, leaving you never being quit sure as to whom is underneath. His music can best be described as a mixture of Hip Hop, Glitch Hop, Dubstep, Trap, and Drum N Bass. Be sure to check him out at the silent disco from 4:15-5 on Saturday.

5. Chance the Rapper

Rounding out my list is Chance the Rapper. If you’re a music lover in general, then you can’t help but to love this guy and his music. From headlining fests, to making surprise performances every year at Bonnaroo, Chance does it all and truly appreciates performing for his fans. With the release of his latest and arguably top rap album of the year, along with his uplifting and melodic flow, his set is sure to put you in the right state of mind to have a great time at Breakaway. Catch his set from 9:45-11pm on the main stage.
