If you weren’t aware by the new name and new look, you are on By The Wavs. We are formally known as EDM Assassin. That is now our past and this is now our future. Just a few days ago, we celebrated our three year anniversary of being open since the relaunch. Truth be told, these two days would have coincided had the anniversary took place on a Saturday. I am very proud of where we have come from and EDM Assassin will always and forever be apart of us. Although, that is not our future as we wanted to go in a different route. Essentially, we’re forking off from EDM Assassin to create a more mature and ideal future. To save you from wondering. By The Wavs came out of numerous sessions of trying to come up with a name for the site. We went with this name because it relates to the water where this site was born, by the ocean waves. It also relates to sound waves which is what music is made up of. Finally, you may notice there is no “E” as that was done on purpose. If you’re familiar with sound files, .WAV files are what the majority of artists use as that’s the best for music.
When we relaunched the website, we focused on the following:
- New Site Design
- Interaction
- Up-and-Coming DJ’s
- Creating a team
In the past three years especially with this rebrand, we have achieved everything. There have been multiple designs as well as logo changes. All site designs and changes were done by myself as well as the logo except this time around. This time, Stephanie L has not only designed our incredible logo, but also all the images used on our social media pages. She is an incredible graphic designer. We plan on taking this design outside the website.
In the past three years, we have met and talked with hundreds, if not, thousands of individuals. We all come together with the same love – electronic dance music. Through group chats, camping areas at festivals, Twitter, Facebook, etc, we’ve interacted with so many fans talking about the music. That was our goal and we’re doing well at achieving this.
We always say that we focus on the music and not the artist and that has been what we’ve been doing. On the sidebar, you’ll always see music from the up-and-coming artists. At the top of the site, you’ll see a submit a track link. Each week, we focus on approximately 10 tracks a week. For those that expedite their submissions, you’ll see their posts. Not only this, we get many tracks submitted through social media. We love the community and those that grind to become bigger and better.
In the three years, this went from a one man band to having quite a number of team members. Many have come and gone, but they’ll be forever be apart of the team. To those currently involved with the site, I am more than grateful for your support and friendship. From talking with you daily to bouncing ideas off each other is something I look forward to daily. I am especially thankful to Nick, Nick, Tim, and Theo for everything they have done as part of the editing team.
To those who continue to support this site, like I said a few days ago, I am beyond thankful for you. We do this for you.
Some new things that you can expect is that our socials are going to be on steroids. As I mentioned, we featured artists weekly. We’ll be taking artists that agree to participating in our YouTube page and posting their music there. It will be fun. We also have a number of other projects in mind, but until they happen, enjoy the music and enjoy what we have for you today.
To celebrate this rebrand, we asked one of our best friends to create a mix that would blow us away. John Lutchman is an open format DJ that straight kills it. The man doesn’t just focus on electronic dance music, but can masterfully intertwine whatever other genre you enjoy. He has supported this site just as much as we support his career that has been taking off. In two and a half weeks, he will be performing at Space Ibiza NY. You’ll be finding us there supporting him and also consuming copious amounts of alcohol while dancing. If you know our site, you may be familiar with Onstage with the EDM Assassins. Similarly or rather, a brand new name, check out the first volume of Catching Wavs – Vol. 1 with John Lutchman! Click here to download.
