And now for something completely different. San Francisco four piece NVO have come out with two songs from their upcoming EP The Signal, and it’s not what you’ll expect. Giving the finger to the current dance music style, Limitless and Shift Me instead hark back to the 1980’s, when there was less emphasis on blasting brains and more emphasis on polished final products. And that’s what they’ve created. Old school synths, funky bass lines and restrained vocals are the name of the game, and they make it sound just like it’s come out of that time period. Well, for Limitless at least. Shift Me instead straddles the boundary between the old and the new, ending up closer to an Acid House style. You can listen to the two songs below.
