Deeply seeded in a theme of adventure seeking and a sense of randomness that’s still rooted in some sense of reality, Sleepy Soul’s music video for “Self,” is something not to be missed. The single is just a sliver of the upcoming EP, not yet titled, that will be coming up this year. With the success of 2020’s Hazy EP behind them, the anticipation is mounting when it comes to what these two will share next.
Lyrically, the story puts an opinionated twist on the sadness that can come with the mid-twenties, the verbiage paired with an indie pop beat filled with lo-fi electronic jazzy moments within hits the spot. The video is very vast and open, taking on a background of the USA countryside as they break the boundaries of safety and normalcy using camera tricks in a very perceptive manner. Nick Hummel and Michael LeFevre make up the duo, clearly able to play off each other’s strengths and work as a team harmoniously to achieve a long-lasting moniker here. There’s a certain ‘it’ factor that makes it easy to stay glued to these two.
With the above mentioned upcoming EP announced, this certainly won’t be the last time these two will be making themselves seen.
