RYNO is an up and coming producer who we first heard of through Dulsae’s remix of his song Wishing Seed. Musically he’s got much more up his sleeve than meets the eye, as we find out in our interview with him.
How did you get involved with the band that led you to the Hard Rock Cafe BOTB win?
My high school band, MORE THAN ME entered the contest on a whim and the whole thing escalated! it truly was one of the most incredible and learning experiences of our lives.
How long have you been producing?
I grew up in a musical family, my dad is a vocal music teacher. I’ve always been passionate about working on vocal production with artists I’m friends with but producing my own projects was something I kind of avoided for a long time because of the emotional attachment to the songwriting process. I sometimes feel it’s difficult to separate that from what is sonically best for the recording. The music business is so DIY, so it’s important to be as self sufficient as possible. That kind of led me into learning protools.
What is the mission or core of your sound?
I’ve had the pleasure of recently teaming up with NYC based producer MEGA Spig, he and I have been working on a lot of new productions that we like to refer to as “Next level $hit”. Our process is pure, passionate and honest. We’ve made a New Year’s resolution to write and produce two new songs each month, some of which we will be releasing in a series starting this summer!
If you weren’t producing what would you be doing?
I’ve always been an avid baseball fan which is where the nickname RYNO came from. Though I grew up a fan of the Yankees, My Little League coach must have been a big fan of the Cubbies and their second baseman Ryne (RYNO) Sandberg. In many childhood dreams, I saw myself as a ballplayer.
What DJs/producers are your go to’s right now?
This project being new, the EDM music scene is a bit fresh for my ears and eyes, I’ve been trying to dig into the NYC scene as much as I can, St. Lucia, Penguin Prison and The Knocks have all caught my attention.
What is your plan for the rest of 2017?
MEGA Spig and I are gonna start pumping out new music and take this project to the next level!
