Afrojack wants to take EDM to Jay-Z heights by age 30

March 4, 2014 by Tim Veiga

Afrojack has made a big claim recently for the rise of the dance music scene in pop culture. He spoke to Mixmag about his love for Jay-Z and his desires to make EDM huge while he’s still in his twenties.

“I just hope I get my shit together before I’m 30…big shit,” the 26-year-old tells Mixmag. “I already do a lot of balling things, but before I’m 30 I want to take EDM to a Jay-Z level… like ‘EDM’s so hard mother-fuckers wanna find me!’”

So there’s that, but can he keep his word? It sounds like he is fully capable. Recently, he released six new songs to Soundcloud under his actual name, Nick van de Wall. If this is a preview of his expected album release for later this year, then we are in good hands. Afrojack promised few to no typical drops on this album, steering things in a new direction. He has some sweet goals set out, so let’s hope he can deliver!

Listen to one of the new songs, titled ‘Who Got It’, which actually samples Jay-Z!
