I don’t know much about the American Music Awards besides the fact they give awards to musicians. This year they had a new category: Favorite Artist of Electronic Dance Music. This is another step in EDM becoming more and more into today’s society (not like it isn’t already). There were four artists nominated this year: Avicii, Daft Punk, Calvin Harris, and Zedd. To be quite honest, I don’t know how they base these awards. I don’t know if it based upon popularity, accomplishment, a combo of the two or something else. Well, the winner of this year’s Favorite Artist, Electronic Dance Music is Avicii. Hopefully this is the first step to more electronic dance music categories in the coming years.
