Royale Avenue is a wicked Parisian trio with a glittering future ahead. With their latest single “The Rhythm Is You” providing a soundtrack to the summer right now, we got in touch to find the answers to our 8 Questions.
1) Who are three of your all-time favourite artists, past or present?
Laurent: We love so many artists but in common we definitely have bands like Justice, artists like The Weeknd and producers like Diplo!
Matthieu: People who strongly believe in their craft and are trying to bring something new to the table!
2) Is there a particular tune that you have never got sick of?
Matthieu: “A Real Hero” by Electric Youth, one of the best indie bands around!
Jean-Noël: Definitely “Kids” by MGMT.
Laurent: I would say “Wonderwall” by Oasis… as cheesy as it gets!
3) Describe your perfect day…
Laurent: Morning session with Mark Ronson, then lunch with Sia to discuss the future of pop music, and back to the studio with Skrillex to join the party – right before leaving for a show where we open for Daft Punk on their new world tour! That is what we would call a good day!
4) What would people who know you well say about you in three words?
Matthieu: Probably dedication, open mindedness and…
Jean-Noël: Humour! 🙂
5) Ideal studio layout…
Laurent: The ideal studio is like the ideal place, it’s the place where you can create the magic! A rooftop penthouse with a swimming pool turned into a studio overlooking Los Angeles would be nice though, haha!
6) What is your most valued material possession?
Jean-Noël: Probably one of our caustic guitars in our studio, it’s a Taylor, arguably one of the best out there!
7) Is there something musically you would like to do more of next year?
Matthieu: We’re really excited about starting to play shows later this year hopefully and collaborating with artists we love!
8) Where do you want to be in 10 years?
Laurent: Definitely touring the world and keep doing what we love to do the most in life! Our drive is our passion for music and art in general, we feel so lucky to have come this far already and we’ll make sure to make the most of every minute we have!
