Following the devastating events at the BPM Festival where 5 people were killed, outcries are poured out in all directions. Most commonly, these cries are put towards the victims and their families. Some take their frustration out at the government to push for more police activity and to break down these cartel related shootings. For some people, they take this negative and sad energy and turn it into something positive.
This is where Dixon and Solomun come in. Slated to play a final party in Tulum where the entry fees were going to go to schools anyways, it ultimately had to be cancelled following the shootings. Instead of ending the event all together and having what was originally a great plan for fundraising, they have found two projects where the proceeds can go to. Dixon and Solomun will take it upon themselves to finish a children’s day care — meanwhile the secondary project is to help with the creation of a new aula, sports field and restrooms at the primary school in town, “Gonzalo Guerrero”.
