DJ AM’s “As I AM” Documentary to Premiere at Tribeca Film Festival

March 11, 2015 by Grant Austin

It has been a while since DJ AM’s unfortunate passing. It really struck a chord with many because he was so talented, but had many demons. We first learned about As I AM: the Life and Time$ of DJ AM as a trailer was played back at the Las Vegas EDM Biz Conference back in 2013. This year, the film will take place at the Tribeca Film Festival. The film features Pasquale Rotella, Steve Aoki, A-Trak, Diplo, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Travis Barker (who survived a plane crash with DJ AM), and more well-recognized industry figures. The site gives the following synopsis of the documentary:

Adam Goldstein, better known as DJ AM, was a man with deep passions and aggressive demons. As I AM is an insider’s look into the life of the late, great mash-up pioneer: his professional success that made him the first million-dollar DJ in the United States and his incredibly complex personal life that was lived under the specter of drug addiction.

The film will show the rise and climb of DJ AM and the darker side as well. This really strikes a chord with me as DJ AM was one of the few people that really got me into the scene. His turntables and mixer will be forever immortalized in from of his nightclub, Dusk in Atlantic City. I always go out of my way to look at them. Tickets go onsale next month for the public!
