Event Review: Dubvision at Rumor Night Club, Philadelphia

March 12, 2016 by Theo Maulen

Untitled

Going out last night to see Dubvision was a complete spur-of-the-moment idea that originally I didn’t think I would do.  It was a good way to ease myself from being a slight hermit during the winter into festival mode.

As far as music goes, the duo put on a very good show for the small venue. The two really got involved with the crowd, playing some of the top dance songs out today and a decent variety of the tracks they’ve been putting out since the festival season ended last year.

It was difficult to enjoy myself when people are spilling their drinks, pushing on the small dance floor, and the bouncers are spread around like the secret service throwing people out.

This two room building was set up last night to also have a hip-hop style party going on. This hip-hop room was where people seemed to be really having fun and dancing like no one was watching.  This is in comparison to the room Dubvision was performing in, where people were mostly standing around more or drinking at the bar.

I guess what I’m saying is Rumor has an interesting layout if you want to go into one of their two VIP rooms or you are taking up their offer to host a corporate event. But if you hope to have some room to dance, or go home without alcohol on you; last night was telling me that this is not the place for you.  You will hear some good music though. The acoustics in the building are amazing and no matter where you were you felt like you were right near the speakers.
