[EDM Assassin Exclusive] Reuben Keeney Interview On Creating Danger With His Sounds

November 7, 2016 by Jemma Abraham

Reuben Keeney

This week we call on Irish producer and DJ Reuben Keeney to spill the beans on his latest single “Dangerous Me”, and share what else he has on the way.

How did you find working with Sophie & The Bom Boms? Would you like to collaborate again in the future?

Sophie is a bad-ass and I was lucky to have her at the studio during one of my first London writing trips. I’d love to work with Sophie again and I think there’s something already in the works for that, so watch this space!

Which artists do you look up to in the house scene?

I’m a huge fan of the early wave of the “superstar DJs” – from Carl Cox to Sasha, they helped kick off the whole DJ phenomenon and I respect them very highly. I’m also a huge fan of Eric Prydz, Stephan Bodzin and more recently, Kidnap Kid.

What made you want to drop a B-Side of this single alongside the original?

I really loved the original mix, but felt that the track could have a different feel for the more house DJs. I’m a house gangster at heart and I felt it would be something fun to do. Funnily, the B-Side seems to be getting more of a reception right now than the original mix!

Where in the world would you most like to play out, and why?

I’ve heard so many great stories about Asia. The culture, the people – it sounds amazing and that is definitely an area of the world I would like to visit and tour as soon as possible.
