Ekcle have been taking the underground scene by storm over the last few weeks, releasing music unlike anything that you’ll have ever heard before. The Tudor undertones of A Giant Carries The City juxtapose with the laid back yet unrelenting beat, before The Impulsive State takes you on an six minute journey through bass, then sound design, then wobbles and then beauty to close.
Serené Mont Garde is a deep, slow roller with a soulful atmosphere bubbling through and a tribal beat that blows most other beats (especially in Bass music) out of the water. Exceptional sampling in an exceptional tune, with an exceptional climax to finish.
Sakoya closes the EP, and like The Impulsive State it’s a journey through different styles and vibes. Beginning with a beat that would suit an opening forest scene from a Legend of Zelda game, it then progresses into a climax that is quite simply beautiful. Eagles circle overhead as you discover the fountain of youth; the end of the game. Peace at last. But it isn’t the end of Sakoya, as it dwindles down to a relaxing and straightforward beat that brings you back to a tribal style beat, similar to that which opened Serené Mont Garde.
Ekcle aren’t the next big thing, their music is too experimental and left field for that. They’re the next best thing, and if you’re willing to open your mind and ears they will reward you with every single second of their music. Ekcle have a skill that is significantly underdeveloped in electronic music: they know how to make a song from start to finish. Deshoda is a must listen, plain and simple.
