Neither Shaun Reynolds nor Emma Heesters seem to be Caribbean (SPOILER: I may be wrong about that), so covering a song that is partly sung in patois got me a little nervous to click on this Koni remix. I am assuming in their original cover, Emma does a good job hitting the lyrics completely because they are correct in this remix.
That brings me to the actual remix. Koni takes away their acoustic cover, doesn’t attempt to put a style similar to the original Rihanna version, but instead the tropical house version that is below. He also did the original version justice by speading up Emma and Shaun’s vocals to a quicker tempo. I think that this was a great move. It is still a catchy track because of the instrumentals. I give Koni props for giving this cover the tropical house treatment. Give it a listen below and let me know what you think. Follow the link to learn more from Koni.
