It’s very rare that a song can get me emotional, but Emmit Fenn’s “Blinded” has taken me for a ride. The entirety of the song feels more like a story being told. Although the lyrics compose of just two lines, the instrumentals are much more than that. The soft piano chords, simple drumbeat, and beautiful string instruments all bring the song to cinematic level. The song continues to slowly build up with the strings and then it fades for just a bit. Then as it begins to crescendo again with the percussion, the song fades back into its’ lyrics. The lyrics are repeated throughout the song, but the way Fenn arranges the music gives listeners a chance to rethink the words and add more meaning to it.
