The Midwest festival that has everyone across the nation buzzing kicks off this weekend at the Double JJ Resort in Rothbury, Michigan—Electric Forest. Tickets had gone on sale back in December and sold out in less than a day after its phase one lineup release in February. That is three and a half months prior to selling out in 2014! What may have caused the festival to sell out so fast? With discounted rates for returning fest goers, an unbelievable lineup that covers a wide array of genres, the beautiful venue and the tons of other amazing features this festival has to offer may be to blame.

Unfortunately for those who waited too long on the initial release, or missed the limited amount of tickets released on May 29th this is one festival you do not want to miss. With three nights of forest veterans The String Cheese Incident, third time returner Bassnectar and dubstep legend Skrillex, the headlining acts are just enough to cause all of the excitement. Secondary acts Big Gigantic and Gramatik bring the funk and renowned artists Flume, Flux Pavillion and Kaskade help seal the deal. Supporting artists such as dubstep DJ’s Datsik, Crizzly and Snails, beautiful melodic dub artist Illenium, to the tropical style of Matoma and first time foresters rap sensation G-Eazy and acoustic styling of the talented Trevor Hall round off this year’s Forest must sees. This festival has everything to offer and more, and we are not just talking about artists.

As if the lineup wasn’t enough, Double JJ Resort has many attractions that you can’t necessarily find at your typical music festival. Inside you can find a golf course, horseback riding and even a water park. If you thought that was all, wrong. Hot air balloon rides will be going on throughout the weekend, the hammock zone presented by Eno will be set up all through the forest, afternoon yoga, workshops and more will be available throughout the weekend.

With the schedule and map posted online, be sure to print out your copy and get your weekend planning started. Remember to arrive early as the Electric Forest websites states campgrounds will open at 10:00 am on Thursday morning, rumor has it if traffic carries onto the main roads campers may have to enter earlier. You can also find a list of FAQ’s such as what to bring and what not to bring, what will be available on site and more on the Electric Forest website. We look forward to getting lost with you all in the forest this weekend.

Be sure to catch us at the Big Gigantic Fam meet up in front of the Ferris wheel at the Tripolee Stage Thursday at 7:45 pm.
