[Event Review] Ferry Corsten- Beta 3/31

As I walked into Beta last Thursday night for Ferry Corsten, I couldn’t help but notice that the atmosphere felt different. I’ve been to plenty of shows there, from dub to dnb, to progressive house and bass house, and finally, trance. I can’t honestly say I’d seen any trance before Ferry Corsten and I definitely need to make my way back. The crowd was serene and everyone seemed to be doing their own thing while minding those around them.

While the crowd was great, the opener for Ferry had the crowd in the mood, building from progressive house to an uptempo progressive trance sound, and back without so much as a missed beat. Ferry came on next and took the show to another level. Making great use of the LED panel surrounding the booth and the phenomenal sound system that Beta has, Ferry took fans to all levels of trance with his mix that night.

From a few different vantage points that night I could see that every single person in the crowd was into it. From those hanging out in the back by the bars, to those with their hands on the glass hoping for acknowledgement, Ferry had everyone entranced with his sound. It was awesome to see an artist completely engross the crowd with every melody and transition as nothing seemed off limits. You know the artist is having fun when he takes selfies with the cellphones of those up front and cannot stop smiling.

Overall I enjoyed the show more than I would have expected. For my first time seeing an artist I’m always a little weary just to be safe, but Ferry blew my expectations out of the water and put on a hell of a show. Make sure you see Ferry whenever you get the chance, you will not be disappointed.
