Snails invaded Minneapolis, Minnesota this past Saturday transforming The Loft into Slug City. TC Dubstep hosted a sold out show, with openers T-Wrecks, Naavis and White Balance warming up the stage for Snails, this show was pure filth. All 800+ fans filed in up until Snails took the stage. After White Balance stepped off, without notice Snails began. From beginning to end, banger after banger this set has arguably been one of the best to take place at The Loft, even faced with adversity.
Throughout the set, there had been a series of three electrical malfunctions. With the music cutting out for several minutes at a time, Snails kept his cool while keeping the crowd intrigued. Starting chants and interacting with fans, the crowd was still engaged. When all was resolved the set picked up right where it left off. Along with many Snails originals, songs from familiar artists such as Flosstradamus, Ephwurd and Jauz, Skrillex, Major Lazer, Dillon Francis and many more had also made an appearance in the set. As the night came to a close, Snails decided to step out into the crowd. Fans swarmed as he made his way around. Upon returning to the stage to finish up, an encore was in order without hesitation.
When the set came to a close and the lights came on, it looked as if everyone had just stepped out of the shower. The Loft had become a hot box as a result of being on the fourth floor and influx of people, moisture filled the windows and fans couldn’t keep up, everyone who attended can agree this was one sweaty show. Despite looking like a hot mess, dedicated fans stuck around for an opportunity to meet Snails and get pictures even while being yelled to file out. Snails stuck around and insisted for those who waited for their chance to meet the King himself to stay; fortunately we were one of the lucky few. Reflecting on the past two Snails shows I’ve been in attendance, I continue to gain more respect for Fredrick.
Not only is he one of the hottest DJ’s out there right now, with an incredible talent of mixing and creating some of the originals, he overall is an amazing and genuine person. Even with a busy schedule he goes above and beyond for his fans and it is recognized and appreciated. At Electric Forest during his meet and greet with This Song Is Sick, the never ending line continued to grow. When staff managing the line came around warning that he would only have time for a few more, he insisted on sticking around longer. Both times I’ve had the opportunity to meet him, he was very genuine and took the time to talk to each fan rather than rush us along. Not only does he reach out to fans in person, he also reaches out via social media constantly. For that we want give a huge thank you to Fredick, not only on our behalf but the rest of the Snails fans out there, for everything you do for us!
We look forward to many more Snails sets in our future. We will be following him as he steps on stage in Des Moines, IA for 515 Alive Music Festival, Baltimore, MD for Moonrise Music Festival, Chicago, IL for North Coast Music Festival, Kansas City, MO for Dancefestopia, Chattahoochee Hills, GA for TomorrowWorld, Morrison, CO for Rowdytown and many more.
