Gammer – THE DROP EP

November 27, 2017 by Jackson Roth

Hardcore legend, Gammer, just released his latest EP, “THE DROP”, last Wednesday.  All four stellar keep the BPM between 150 and 170, in true Gammer style.  “THE DROP” starts out with “Let’s Get Crunk”, a dubstep track.  It feels like the perfect intro for this EP, not too crazy, but it definitely gets you in the right mood.  “Let’s Get Crunk” was the first single released for the EP, and was the 6ooth single release on Monstercat.  The next track, “Stay Tonight (feat. Dylan Matthew)”, was the second single released for “THE DROP”.  As far as hardcore songs go, it’s pretty amazing, but definitely not the best hardcore song on the EP.  That being said, only two of the four songs are hardcore!  “Beam of Light” is the second of the two hardcore tracks, though it is technically “happy hardcore”.  This is probably my favorite song on the EP.  It has one of Gammer’s signature melody lines that hold it true to its genre.  The vocal line fills in all of the gaps between drops and ties the bow on this awesome track.  Finally, “THE DROP”.  The title track to this EP lives up to and beyond its name.  Beginning with a peaceful intro, “THE DROP” quickly transitions into a build-up that’ll raise the hairs on the back of your neck.  When it finally drops, you’ll understand why it’s such an amazing track.  In fact, DJ Snake actually opened his Coachella 2017 set with “THE DROP”.  After the first drop, the track goes has a breakdown that almost sounds like it could be coming from a baby’s cradle, if they made hardcore/dubstep cradles!

Check out “THE DROP” for an awesome listen!

About Jackson Roth

Just old enough to be able to go into clubs, I love getting to see live DJs and bands whenever I can. Some of my favorite artists include Excision, Pegboard Nerds, and Pendulum. I also love making my own music in my free time, both on my computer and on my guitar. Feel free to send me music suggestions on twitter @Jax_Roth!
