I’d like to quickly introduce Glacier and his EP that dropped today, The Slap. Find the review below and the links to all of the places where you can find the EP. I love the funk and soulful jazz that is fused with electronic melodies. A genre-bending EP from this up and comer, make sure you check out The Slap, you will not be disappointed.
Prologue
The tag for this track is Jazz hop and I can absolutely say that describes what you’ll hear. The saxophone and piano inspired tune is easy on the ears and warms your soul as you prepare to dive into The Slap EP head-long. A great intro track to set the mood, I love it.
Smooth Maple
The soulful sounds of jazz pervade your ears as Smooth Maple hits the strings you never knew your heart had. The eclectic mix of sax and bass remind me of Griz and Big Gigantic with great energy levels but a groove all its own. Listening to Smooth Maple will have you swaying back and forth in your seat, tapping your fingers on the desk and bouncing your foot, all indications that the track has pulled you in and will never let go.
Zap Tang
Infusing an electric synth melody through the twangs of bass and smooth jazz sax is no easy feat but Glacier kills with this track, keeping you constantly in a state of dance. The upbeat rhythm is perfect for playing this track at a festival where free-flowing vibes are plentiful and the sound travels through the heart and soul of all in attendance. A perfect track to keep the upswing of this EP alive.
Fake It
Combining elements from the previous three tracks, Glacier continues to impress with the last track of his EP. Fake It uses a slower intro to build upon electronic elements that fuse with the jaxx style we have come to know from Glacier. The upbeat rhythm provides plenty of danceable material as the groove is heavy with funk-laden beats.
