Last month on April 3rd, HALIENE released her debut solo release on Monstercat, “Dream in Color”. Not only was it her first solo release, it was also the first female solo release on Monstercat. With the release of “Dream in Color”, HALIENE is changing what it means to be a vocalist in the EDM scene, taking a massive leap towards vocalists being main stage artists.
“Dream in Color” features emotional lyrics focusing on breaking free of a black and white world into one of color, which is depicted throughout the music video. In an interview with HALIENE, she says she wrote “Dream in Color” to be “an instrument of healing and inspiration to those caught in the numbness and suffering of a dark and difficult place, to be a light of vivid color in a black and white world.” HALIENE is also being mirrored by actress Kaliyah Nevaeh during the video… or is HALIENE mirroring Kaliyah? HALIENE commented on this duality, “It’s like I only exist in her head, and I only come to life through her.”
Everything in the “Dream in Color” music video has meaning, but instead of me telling you what meaning’s HALIENE or I find in the video, find your own meaning. “Once we break through the blocks that exist in our own minds, we find the inspiration that comes from spirit, from within, from something bigger than us.” -HALIENE
