Head Rush- Boomslang X J. Esho

February 11, 2015 by Nick Pesavento

Head Rush

I’d like to introduce you to Boomslang and J. Esho’s track “Head Rush” by telling you to go in listening with no expectations of what you’re about to hear. Not because you don’t want to be disappointed, but because the track will exceed any you could have thought of.

What you’ll first notice is the vocals that carry the weight of the song with them. They aren’t filler lyrics that you can just repeat over and over as you’re jumping up and down, screaming. They are lyrics that make you think, make you wonder, and contemplate notions you have, even for just a moment. There is a lot of music today that relies on easily digestible lyrics for fans to scream when the DJ picks up the mic, these are ones you’ll want to hear at home, in the car, when you’re alone, or even live if you can. Powerful lyrics are difficult to do well but here is an example of how to do it right. A head rush is nothing to take lightly, whether it be from a person, a feeling, or an idea. You notice when it happens and you certainly do not ignore it.

While the melody does not attempt to steal the show, it flows through the background as a familiar sound you can dance to, remember, and tap out with your fingers while you sit at your desk. Much like I am doing now. The melody isn’t overly complex, but its highs and lows are noticeable enough that they mark the first signs of change within the song. The melody will quicken as the chorus comes to a close and the interlude takes over, bringing the listener deeper into the song, into the feeling of a head rush. The tempo readily speeds up and slows down along with the lyrics to bring out the emotion and guide the listener through the song.

If you haven’t already, go download this song and put it into whatever playlist you have. There is no getting sick of this melody or the many attempts you’ll make at learning the lyrics. I have a good head start on all of you thanks to the dozen times I heard it while writing this. I’m looking forward to more great work. Listen to the track below and make sure you download “Head Rush” while you can!
