As a follow up to Herobust’s EP “I’m Aloud”, the 8 track EP gets a little bit of a rework from Barely Alive, Spag Heddy, Wuki, and Da-Bow on a couple of tracks. The I’m Aloud Remixes also feature a special VIP Remix of “Skurt Reynolds” by Herobust himself!
Of course it makes sense for the very first song of the Remixes is the VIP version of “Skurt Reynolds”. There is no doubt that DJ’s and producers across the world have mixed this song into their set – this song has blown up. This VIP remix is super bouncy, but still features that same filthy drop as in the regular version. The second drop is even more intense the first; if you don’t feel the bass in your entire body then you’re listening to it wrong. Herobust killed it the first and the second time with this dance trap track.
Next up is the “Dirty Work” remix from Barely Alive. The beginning is different but the vibes are quality. The amount of genres Barely Alive combines in this remix is enough for one track: future bass, dubstep, trap, and melodic all in one. The second drop includes the dirty dubstep and completely makes the song. Overall, this song is remixed extremely well and the way that all the different types are incorporated makes it unique as hell!
One word to describe the Spag Heddy remix of “Skurt Reynolds”: nasty. Prior to not really knowing who he was, I wasn’t really sure what to expect/his style of music. Safe to say he threw me for a curve ball. The beginning is slightly slower and more melodic, so your first thought is that it is going to be not that as intense as the original…. that is up until the first drop. The bass face was real. Just like the original, the second drop is definitely more intense and features some insane riddim. I was thinking that the original of this song couldn’t get any better, but that was until this remix came around.
Following up is “Bottle Swervice” – Wuki remix. Wuki has a special sound in my opinion and he gets super weird with this remix. The original Bottle Swervice is known for the distinct drop and Wuki takes that remix and completely flips it. He spent some time this summer touring with Getter and the Wat The Frick crew; I imagine that working with such talented producers/people in the genre gave him the opportunity to play around with his sound. Wuki has a whole playlist on Spotify of songs/remixes that he has produced this year, which you can view by clicking here. 🙂
To end the 5 track I’m Aloud (Remixes) is the Dabow remix of “Weigh Home”. This remix certainly has the feel good vibes that the original has; however, Dabow took that and added his own flare to it. The drop is really uncommon and is something that I hadn’t really heard before. The second drop is honestly really hard to describe, it is so euphonious and melodic – everything about it.
Overall, all of these remixes take already awesome songs and just completely rework them to make them an individual masterpiece. All of the artists bring their own vibes to the remix, making it extremely pleasing. It’s not everyday that you stumble upon an EP remix where everything actually sounds awesome!
