I was lucky enough to get in touch with none other than Fox Stevenson before his show on 6/9/16 at The Loft in Minneapolis. Check out what he had to say!
Q: As a big fan of Liquicity and liquid drum and bass as a whole, how do you feel that Liquicity helped you to get to where you are today?
Fox: They brought me to the show! I have no idea what would have been my route into a career in music without them as a catalyst, almost everything I’ve done has stemmed from the time they uploaded “Cloud Head” on the Liquicity Youtube channel.
Q: I heard a lot of positive reviews about your set with Feint last year at Liquicity Festival, do you guys ever plan to do that again?
Fox: It’s a never say never kind of situation, if a promoter wants it, we can totally do it, and we play back to back in private from time to time, but of course we both have our own ideas about how we want to be perceived in a set, and for shows where that’ll overlap, it’s a really good fun idea.
Q: What is your stance on playing drum and bass in America since it’s not as well known or liked?
Fox: I’m always apprehensive about dropping DnB out in the US, sometimes it can be ok, I don’t think it’s ever gone down better than ok though, people just don’t seem to get it out here really, Americans like it half timey, Europeans like it full time.
Not all Americans like it half-time Stan, not all. 🙁
Q: How does it feel to hear an entire crowd singing one of your songs?
Fox: It’s funny, I never really think about it, when it happens it’s a very momentary thing, the best part about it Isn’t seeing people knowing the words, it’s seeing people singing with their friends, that they share that with each other when it was something I made in isolation has a sort of wanderlusty satisfaction to it.
Q: On your subreddit you had mentioned that “Not Me” has it’s final stand with this next EP.. Are things looking good with that song and the EP as a whole?
Fox: So to be honest, that EP should be finished right now, and it isn’t. I think the plan now is gonna be to do two 2 sided singles, but I don’t know hahaha! Not Me is definitely not finished, and I still am having a standoff with that track, It’ll happen though!
Q: Apart from what has been released thus far, are there any other genres you plan to dabble into?
Fox: I guess that there aren’t too many left right? I definitely am interested in doing some future bass!I’m not really thinking about genre anymore though, following a couple more releases I’m going to go none genre I think!
Q: Who’s your favorite artist to work with, whether it be live or in the studio?
Fox: I think my favorite sessions have been ones involving Priority One or Curbi, I vibe really well with those guys and it just becomes easy, second nature. My drummer Dan is another one actually, I get him over from time to time, he’s a great second pair of ears and also great company, that’s all you need!
Q: Is there a specific song you’ve always wanted to remix or even throw a couple of your own elements into?

Q: How does it feel to be a part of the Disciple Recordings family?
Fox: It feels awesome! I’ve always been friends with a lot of the disciple guys, now we get to hang out more, they’re all really proficient producers too it’s an awesome family to be part of 🙂
Q: When you’re not touring I’ve noticed you stream on TwitchTV, apart from League of Legends what other games do you enjoy playing if any?
Fox: Yeah I’ll stream from time to time! Recently I’ve been super into Dark Souls 3, because it’s incredible!! Also honorable mention to the racing game “Distance” it’s really underrated and special, never really played a game quite like it!!
