If you’ve been following electronic music this year, than you’ll definitely know who Rezz is. Taking the techno/house world by storm, Rezz has shown us with releases on OWSLA and Mau5trap that she not only can create originals, collaborate with legendary producers, but she also continues to innovate and evolve as an artist to suit her interests. We had the pleasure of sitting down with Rezz herself ahead of her FIRST Red Rocks performance at Dead Rocks on 6/30. Check out our questions and her answers below!
– This is your first performance at Red Rocks, how does it feel?
exciting! surreal. It’s been a dream venue of mine for years.. Even just to attend, let alone play.
– Is there anything special you wanted to bring for this performance?
Just the best set i can possibly give.
– Your goggles have finally been debuted and you mentioned you’d be bringing them to Red Rocks, where did the inspiration for those come from?
I’m super inspired by the idea of hypnosis & being hypnotized by music. i want to be a character that represents that.
– I’ve seen you compared to Gesaffelstein, what do you make of that?
It’s sweet! I only found out about him after being compared to him, i think our sounds are quite different. I love his music
– You have been releasing music on a few different labels this year, does that freedom suit you and would it be something you continue through your career?
definitely. I won’t sign myself exclusively to any label, and in the future i plan to have my own platform.
– What has it been like working alongside legendary producers such as Deadmau5, Destructo, and artists from OWSLA?
incredible, deadmau5 is the reason I started so i’d say its all pretty crazy..
– 2016 has been an incredible year so far, what else can we expect from you in the second half?
Lots more music, collaborations, evolvement of my brand and visuals.
– Do you have a favorite performance from this year thus far?
I haven’t seen enough artists this year!
– Any advice you would give to up and coming producers/djs?
Focus on your production. Get loads of feedback on your music, keep growing, keep focused & keep motivated.
– Any final thoughts?
love yu
