Going into this I had no clue who L 33 was, and I am HEAVILY regretting not discovering him sooner. His new EP named KARATE blew me away and quite honestly is some of the best neurofunk I’ve ever heard. Every kick, snare and vocal left me wanting more. A track that I feel stands out the most to me, is easily Drop It Down Low. This is one of those tracks where from the introduction, you already know you’re in for a wild ride and you better strap yourself in. Whatever synth he used is just straight nasty and when I first heard it my face was similar to smelling something well… nasty! Not in a bad way at all, might I add.
Like most EP’s do if they have a song on there named after it, they make that track the biggest and baddest track on it. And Karate definitely lives up to the vocal clip in the song that says “I’m going wild.” Production wise every track is superb on this EP, and I cannot find a single song I don’t like. Every drop made me want to just get up and start attempting to poorly shuffle. Also if you haven’t heard of L 33 like I hadn’t, take the time to check out his other productions as well. You won’t be disappointed! I’ll have this EP on my neuro playlist for many months to come, if I ever remove it. Catch the Karate EP on Beatport on May 30th, and worldwide on June 13th.
