As if the name and album art weren’t enough of a sign, welcome to the creative mind of Liquid Stranger. This 6 track EP is a prime example of his new movement he’s started with a few other artists such as Space Jesus, Bleep Bloop, Shlump, etc. named Wakaan which to my understanding seems to be a bunch of artists collectively who like to make weird and creative bass music! Some of it can be classified as dubstep, some trap, some future bass, some even just bass music because it cannot be classified.
Out of all of the songs, the one that stands out to me the most is probably his song with Mr Bill named Frankenskank. What sets this track aside over the others is that it has my favorite elements of dubstep in it. The wonderfully placed vocal chops, a reggae type beat, and not too crazy heavy! A great minimalistic reggae dubstep track which is hard to find these days, but don’t let that song take away from the rest of the album there are many other great tunes such as SPACEBOSS with Space Jesus as well as Launch & Hotbox.
