Mixmash Records Respond to Beatport’s Decision to Remove Laidback Luke Track

January 15, 2015 by Nick Pesavento

Laidback Luke

Charting in the Top 10 on Beatport is a great indicator of the popularity of a track. It came as a surprise that Beatport decided to remove the new track by Laidback Luke and Tujamo from its site and re-list it, forcing the number of purchases to be reset and for the charting to start over. Beatport has said that because of a campaign aimed at promoting the track, the chart of sales was artificially inflated, and therefore the numbers could not be counted. In a statement from Beatport, we see that they are maintaining a good-standing position with the independent label Mixmash Records as they do not believe the error was intentional.

This could be a huge set back for Laidback Luke and Tujamo, who have already seen endorsements from artists such as: David Guetta, Hardwell, Blasterjaxx, and Steve Aoki. Their track, S.A.X, has already seen time in sets from these artists and others as they hope it can kick off a huge year for both Djs. The link for the full press release from Mixmash Records can be found here. We look forward to seeing if the track can rebound from a great first week in the charts, as this development has surely brought exposure (despite being negative) to both Laidback Luke and Tujamo.
