Without a doubt, Moby has been one of the most important names in the progression of electronic music throughout the last few decades, especially the downtempo subgenre. To parallel his Porcelain memoirs, Moby has chosen Friction’s Drum and Bass label Shogun Audio to release an EP with DnB remixes of his greatest hits. It’s spectacular. Featuring names that those who aren’t acquainted with DnB may not know (but those who love DnB will), each remix is a tasteful switch in genre, vibe and style when compared to the originals.
Pola & Bryson, Technimatic, Fourward and Icicle all nail their renditions of Porcelain, Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad, Go and Natural Blues (respectively). The first two are silky smooth Liquid Drum and Bass, whereas the latter two are somewhat more experimental and bass laden. One of the rare EPs that has held my attention throughout its entire length, I have no reservations in stating that this is something special.
