“Music saved my life” is one of those quotes that never really fades away, especially in the dance music community. But has anyone ever taken it a step higher? This is where Moby, Wolfgang Gartner, and Sander Kleinenberg come in. These three have announced that a documentary is in the works that explores Music Therapy. The documentary, called Before We Were Kings, focuses on how tough it can be to fit in during social situations, but how the art of DJing moves from being a hobby to something that is life changing. The documentary creators suggest that rather than take Xanax, just listen to music to relieve anxiety or depression. Music has also helped those victims of Autism, strokes, and speech impediments.
The documentary has teamed up several organizations from Ibiza to New York. The project is still looking for funds to continue filming. They have created a Kickstarter page to accept donations, no matter how big or small.
